I am a passionate student who thrives from learning new skills and creating exciting new pieces. I enjoying working on the projects college sets me but enjoy and take great pleasure from setting myself individual projects to complete at home. I love working in an old fashioned style, encorporating hand embroidery with quirky materials to create a unique effect. At present I am in the process of completing a patchwork quilt, based on the theme of identity and nature. I have drawn inspirations from many artists and love soaking up their knowledge to come up with my own ideas. I particulaly like the 'object of desire' project i completed, as it really gave me the freedom to express my self with the scale and design. I hope that if sucessful I will be able to learn new ways of manipulating fabrics with the tutors, in order to create stunning pieces to be proud of. I am looking forward to making use of all the studio space your university has to offer and cant wait to see the work i can produce. I really hope that your enjoy looking at the works I have submitted and look forward to hearing from you.

A small section of patchwork taken from a quilt i am currently making.

An example of one of my flowers also used on the quilt.

A small example of sufolk puffs.

My partly finished quilt, firstly I made a patchwork background, then I added the tree design (created by using a paper template tacked to the back of the fabric), in the forground there are a selection of flowers - each made using differnt processes. The back of the quilt is splti into 3 sections. In the spare space there is going to be a verse about nature, as well as applique birds and 3D pieces hanging off the main background.

Rag dolls.

Small sample (paper, fabric and stitch).

Object of desire - Culture.

1950's inspired project - Created in conjuction with the lowry
(based on the theme of women's roles).
Wrap around apron dress.

Small section of work inspired by Bruce Nauman.

Sample created using layers of fabric stitched together and subsequently cut into.

A cushion i made at home as a small project to myself. I used scraps of fabrics lying around and wanted to create an item that looked oldy - worldy.

This was creating by needle felting a design onto a thin peice of fabric. I really love the texture of the work and the sense of movement it has.
