Cynthia J Lee

Cynthia J Lee is a small town collage artist from mid america.
I think he work has a really unique quality to it, the colours, media used and depth created with so many materials is really quite extraordinary!
Unfortunately i was able able to gain access to one image, for more information about this artist visit her personal website  http://www.cynthiajlee.com/home#.T7KUHutSTX8

ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is rooted in a fascination with borders, intersections and horizons. I want to travel deep
inside the space along these edges. A pulse resonates there, and I am pulled between form
and formless, between order and chaos. For me, this tension mirrors our contemporary times.

Polarizing views exist in our global politics and economics. Advancements in science and
technology develop at a dizzying pace and impact us in unsettling ways. We now access huge
amounts of information, and networks connect us 24/7. Partial attention to more tasks is our
new norm.

My abstract paintings reflect these global currents. Layers, vivid colors, varied lines, scratches
and splatters---all help me to convey complexity and contradiction. Shapes are partially hidden.
Lines are random and may seem lost or experimental. Open spaces are ripe with possibility.
Patterns arise or retreat into shadow. I want to evoke a sense of the whole, even though the
elemental parts appear incomplete and in motion.

We stand at a point in history where change is continual and often profound. There are fewer
absolutes to guide us. To some degree, we all experience life on this edge. Come join me there,
and add your questions and insights to mine.
